The first I heard about #BookADay was early today when I received a blog update from Pretty Books (whose blog I adore) and loved the idea. Basically, The Borough Press https://www.boroughpress.co.uk/ is asking everyone to tweet #BookADay throughout June to celebrate Independent Book Sellers Week starting June 28th. I love the idea, and although I’ve come to the party slightly late, as can usually be expected of me, I’m going to give it a go. I’ll be tweeting and posting on Tumblr for anyone who wants to follow my endeavours.

I’m slightly cheating here as I’ve not tweeted or posted the first 8 #BookADay’s but at least I’m joining in!
1st June – Favourite Book From Childhood
Fantastic Mr Fox – Roald Dahl – I’ve always loved Roald Dahl novels, they’re the first books I remember being read to at school. I used to sit cross-legged on the classroom carpet with all my school friends, listening to my teacher read. We were read The BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, The Twits but Fantastic Mr Fox was always my favourite. Weirdly, I don’t even own a copy of it :(.
2nd June – Best Bargain
How to Be a Woman By Caitlin Moran – I am completed addicted to Caitlin Moran’s writing, she’s hilarious. I read her book How to Be A Woman at the library but was desperate for my own copy. I picked my copy up at a second hand bookshop on an industrial estate in Sharston, Manchester for a £1! Best bargain ever!!!
3rd June – One with a blue cover
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green – Okay so I know this is sooo obvious but it’s an amazing book and I can’t wait to see the film next week!
4th June – Least favourite book by favourite author
Paper Towns by John Green – I find it really hard to pick favourites as I read so much (let alone a least favourite) but I’ve read pretty much everything by John Green, minus Will Grayson Will Grayson, and he’s probably my favourite teen author of the moment. I’ve chosen Paper Towns because it just didn’t have enough John Green quirk in it.
5th June – Doesn’t belong to me
I don’t generally borrow books from my mates, as a library lady I tend to just lend stuff from my local library. My latest borrow is A Single Breath by Lucy Clarke.
6th June – The one I always give as a gift
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak – I’m a sucker when it comes to giving books as gifts. Recently I’ve been buying people Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell because I love all her books but the book I’ve most gifted is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak because it’s an awesome read.
7th June – Forgot I owned it
This probably sounds incredible because Eleanor and Park is one of my absolute favourite books of all , but I forgot I’d already bought it for Kindle when I’d asked my boyfriend to buy it me in paperback for Christmas!
8th June – Have more than one copy
I used to holiday in the States a lot and one year I was travelling back to the UK on the same day Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was published in hardback. So I bought the American edition for the flight back home and when I got home my Mum had bought me the UK edition! Thus I have two copies!
