Manchester Central Library

After it’s closure in 2010,  Manchester’s (gorgeous) Central library reopened today and of course I was there with my mum as it  finally reopened it’s doors.

Central Library[1]

I had been a bit nervous about what changes had been made to the inside of this iconic building, but I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, it’s been modernised and it’s now a technological emporium filled with film booths, interactive tables and computers everywhere to be seen, but there are so many new shiny books there that most of everything else was lost on me.  I just can’t wait to get back in there.

Children’s Bookshelves – loved this, it was like stepping into Fox’s Books in You’ve Got Mail.

Old with the new – the old cataloguing system still on show

More pictures to follow this week, keep checking back for more!
